Maps app for iOS powered by TomTom, company remains mum on SA
TomTom is providing Apple with data for its new Maps application, but will South Africa be supported?

My mate in Aus says that there are no 3D maps or business listings for SA. I really hope that changes come release of iOS 6...
this move will likely kill off Garmin completely now.
they will be reduced to an outdoor and activity GPS manufacturer now.
Garmin is a better GPS. Used in planes and ships etc.
However i personally have a tomtom for its ease of use.
Never seent eh point of my phone having a GPS>
Remember: The liver is EVIL and must be punished.
SA is covered.
I'll have to see if I am allowed to post screenshots 1st.... but we are on the map so to speak
No 3D, but you can nav/search street addresses and we have satelite view + street view.
Till I get a takedown you can see some pics of my neighborhood over here

.... and thanks for all the fish.
I thought it was "built from the ground up".

Maps for Cape Town seem perfect to me. In fact, it has a road on it that Google Maps was missing, which is nice
If Google maps where missing roads it your own fault for not updating it
Thats why http://www.google.com/mapmaker exist after all.

I bought TomTom for iOS5, so wonder if it will carry over. Guess it will.
Its not based on open source, Google used the same source files Apple did, http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/licensing/our-partners/
Its called reporting a problem when the real world dont match the data. How else do you think they update maps all the time?
Or do you think TomTom/Google/Microsoft/Nokia literally have people in every country that just drive around looking for new roads being build 24/7?
Edit: If you want an open source selution go look at Open Street maps, oh yeay the same Open Source that Apple used to geo tag the photo's by the way.
