Thread: Onthou julle die weermag taal? :)

"As ek kyk en ek kyk weer."
We had a corporal who had some gems for every situation... The ones that have stuck with me are: "Jy kan my bevrug met 'n Kremetart boom as ek weet." and "Julle ruk nou sommer die dam onder die eende uit."
My favorite was a "staats matras" I met during second phase training in Warmbaths.

And as I recall, the sausages were highly prized... tons better than a tin of steak & onions

    Jogging song.

I know a lady dressed in black
She does her job on your back

I know a lady dressed in blue
She does her job on top of you

I know a lady dressed in red
She does her job in your bed.

    And then something about ...

...you pay her at the door
    as she goes out

    Some memories from Basics:

Pole PT - 3 or 4 troops to a telephone pole - Daar gat jy - Start running (part of an opvok!)
Toothpick and rubber - pole PT with truck tyre slung in the middle of the pole.
Star Jumps / Rack Jumps - crouching down and jumping up on command - the burning in your thighs was excruciating.
Kremlin - I think every parade ground had a Kremlin - a hill that you had to run up and down at the side of a parade ground.
Also remember there were the specific trees next to a parade ground that had a deep track/path in the ground around them, made by all the troops that had to run around the tree. It also had smooth bark from all the sweaty hands that gripped the tree as you did your u turn around it.
Stink spruit - also probably at every basic training camp. a river that you had to leopard crawl through.

Here is a photo that might jiggle your memory, this is a recon unit (childrens dad sitting in front lowest on the rock) or some pool ..lol?
This text exists even though you can't really see it, now apply this truth to your existence in the universe.
