The 300 is at Incredible for R199 from tomorrow, if that helps. I have it and it is decent enough.

Depends how much you want to spend and how many devices he has.

From a functionality perspective you can't go wrong with any of them.

Oh, and if colour is important to you that is also a consideration

300i - Black - 4 devices
600 - Silver - 5 devices (I think)
900 - not too sure - too lazy to google

I've got the 850 - great device. The problem is their software. Its sucks ass - slow as hell!

There is a bit of an issue with the 600's in that batteries lose contact with the pins momentarily and the remote resets. I have a 600 and not really am bothered by this as it restarts quite quickly. This may be the reason why is sells for cheaper than the 300 though. I've got a 300 and a 600 and much prefer the 600 (LCD display)

My 650 also had issues with restarting, would drive me nuts. My 700's seem to be much better. And the rechargeable batteries so far have lasted over 2 weeks.
