Those having problems, can you give me an idea of what areas you are in?

When I check my usage graph I see that almost every day my downloads drop to below 300Mb p/hr for the 2 hours between 21:00 and 23:00.
After 23:00 it goes back up to full speed (4Mb).
    Area is 012 653 XXXX
The very existence of flamethrowers suggests that at one point someone said to them self, "You know, I'd really like to set those people over there on fire."

No surprise there, seems that Somerset West's ADSL is not up to scratch.

I havent had too many problems... i think this is something to do with IS, rather than exchanges or lines...

    check these out:

Wish my exchange supported 10MB, max I can get is 4MB.

Don;t have any other accounts to test with, only have Mweb and Afrihost uncapped

I do find that speeds during the day are totally fine most of the time and the slow downs are usually at night, i don't have a usage graph though.

When the slow downs happen I have noticed that ping times seem fairly unaffected.

Thanks for PM-ing me your usernames and ADSL details. I'll be investigating this further and let's see what we can find out. So far only Cape Town numbers though ... anyone else experiencing this in other areas?

    Hi Afriman,

I think that I have figured it out...

I think that due to the (probably) massive uptake of your uncapped accounts, the POP that has been put in cpt isnt managing with the increase in volume in the Western Cape. If People in GP haven't had any issues, then the only thing it could be is the amount of IPC that is available to IS in the Western Cape?

    does that make sense?

Makes sense, i'm checking into this. I also see a few threads citing issues on Western Cape exchanges, though I haven't received notification from Telkom regarding this.

I'm still waiting for some feedback from our network engineers regarding this.

I doubt it's a Telkom exchange issue if the pings aren't affected.

    Hey Afriman,

Getting similar slowdowns here in Stellenbosch, haven't quantified anything yet but sites feel more sluggish since the weekend and some images don't load on the first go on heavier sites like Engagdet, will PM you details.

Perhaps demand is catching up to the networks down here
