I beg to differ. Not all cows live like this e.g. the ones that supply Woolworths and a certain other dairy in the Cape (where a friend works). In fact they live like kings.

The answer to all of this is vegetarianism followed by veganism. We do not need the by-products of other animals to survive.

Sadly, every product derived from an animal is a also a source of animal cruelty and abuse. Even milk is not procured in a hunky-dory manner. So yes, eating something that is still alive is pretty screwed up, but at the same time, the milk you put in your coffee has come from a cow living in unhealthy squalor.
