It is a mystery to me why BA's earn so much money. They type some stuff out on a word document, bitch at the devs till they've read it and then go make adjustments based on the feedback we gave Life isn't fair...

So for any one out there planning their career. If you want to get rich either learn SAP or MS Word.

Well as a rough example, 30k gets you a 350k car and a million rand crib with -+13k left for other stuff, so 30 to 50 is a reasonable goal to set yourself for before you turn 30.

Thats not what Being a BA is all about.

They look at a product/system and tell the bosses how they can make money out of it. Or if the product is even making money.
    Thats where their margin is.
They write in the papers things like : We get this poor sod dev to write the program in one week then we sell it to those other sods, make lots of money and go have a beer.

You'd think that. I'm not always so sure. Maybe 1 or 2 out of the 20 overpaid ones

It's all relative. Some people are happy with R10k a month while others struggle to make ends meet on R200k a month (& I'm not exaggerating).

BA's are there to go write down the stuff our Big Boss heard from the client. I just wish BA's would realize that we would actually go read their stupid specs if they had drawing with arrows. I can build a system from drawings and arrows...not essays.

    Anyway, back on topic:

In the next 10 years I want to be a Software Architect (the kind that actually deserves the title) and earn LOTS of money. In today's terms - at least 70k. A man has got to dream to get somewhere

It's the other stuff that seems to add up .. kids, communication, insurance, groceries, savings, other debt, entertainment, fuel all adds up to a nasty chunk off ones bottom line....
