By the way, my brother is government and earns R40k, while he wants to leave because he has nothing to do. And he started with R30k. So government jobs are not that bad if you don't mind not doing much and not being challenged.
In all honesty, everyone has different goals and desires. By 30, I want to be around 1m CTC. I have an electronic engineering degree but didn't go the PrEng route, I prefer the business side of technology. At 25 I was well over 500k, so my goal is 1m by 30.

On the other hand, my brother who's 29 this year, is already over 1m CTC. He is however an actuary working for an investment bank here in jhb. He aims to be retired by 35 lol.

A rough thumb suck (as I do not work locally anymore).

Paramedic (CCA Cert., NDip, or BTech degree) with some experience.

    I'd say around 26k - 30k pm CTC max.

How did you guys in BI get there? I'm an experienced software developer with solid SQL and I'm looking into possibly going a different direction. BI really interests me.

atm, it irritates me that someone with less work experience than me, gets paid more than me...If i didnt know the other persons salary, then I would have been happy.

If you're in the same field and have the same qualifications then that should not be the case.

And the same location. Just a simple move to JHB would see an extra 10k added to my salary.
    Will work for peanuts

Yeah I assumed he was talking about people at his own company though. If that is the case then he needs to change jobs.
