What I got from that was that if you believe as a christian does with regard to the bible and how life started theres no way that you could believe in evolution, even partly. Ofcourse the reverse is true as well.
I'm sure you could find a way to rationalise it.

Off the top of my head it could be said that the first organism in our lineage that rose to a comparable level of cognitive functioning to modern humans could then have brought about the whole Original Sin mess. I haven't quite thought it through so I'm unsure if it has any holes in it.

Honestly in my experience Christians don't seem to give much thought to what exactly it is they believe in, they just attend the service, say the words when required, go get that delicious icr-cream cone Eucharist and call themselves Christian. I have met very few Christians for example that have read the bible from back to front. I reckon if a few of them actually sat down and gave serious thought to it, tried to make all their various beliefs piece together into one nice coherent picture, they would be unable to do it.

Curious what is your summation of Muslims is.
Or should this rather be a pm
Every teaching of Islam is a manifestation of Divine mercy, and any understanding of Islam that lacks mercy, lacks understanding,

Haven't much experience when it comes to Muslim folks and their beliefs to be perfectly honest.

I can only comment on my arguably limited exposure to Christians. Most of those Christians are Catholics due to my background. Not exactly a valid sample to extrapolate onto all Christians.

I know I was a Christian like that. Believed because my family had believed for generation upon generation. The minute I actually sat down and took a serious look at the beliefs I had held 'just because' I started to see how the different views I was holding didn't all make sense in relation to one another.

Hi people. Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party. Question for porchrat:
Where do you get this from?

Ok. Let me rephrase. Do you believe what you were commenting "off the top of your head" or did you just make that comment based on hearsay or what you have read somewhere?

I neither believe it nor did I hear it somewhere. I was just trying to think of ways you could reconcile a belief in Original Sin and the observations of evolution.
