Would like to know if anyone else is planning on registering for the first time on Monday the 18th June? Im personally registering on Monday,

Looking forward to the hard grind ahead, im aware that the study process wont be easy however im so tired of customer service in the IT field.

My daughter registered for this 3 years ago. Must say UNISA are the most disorganised and inept bunch you want to deal with. They lose students details over and over, after 8 months stop sending you stuff because they say you are not registered. Then have to send proof of payment. Visit us at our cash office in Parow, office hours 09h00 to 16h30 they demand. Get there at 11h30, no, gone home and closed up as no-one came. You cannot contact them by phone, only by email. She wrote exams in November 2010. Still awaiting results. On enquiring, quote student number. No that does not exist they say. Next day they have found it again.

Yet the previous degree she did went through ok, except they "lost" the attachments to her Psychology papers even though they had been signed in and verified. Took 18 months to issue certificate, then they would not send it as they said fees outstanding, although you have to pay in advance. Turned out they wanted an extra R55,00 for courier fees, although the lady called it tuition.

This year, the course notes never arrived and her aunt, who lives in Jhb, went to visit UNISA. Said there were queues out the door for much the same thing. Its is now June and nothing has arrived. Emails and letters get ignored.

Thanks for the feedback, yeah I kinda get the feeling however im hoping that I don't have to go through that tedious process, I've heard numerous complaints about them.

Having studied IT before I feel that they really have to jack up their application and registration process.

Im doing my first registration online and dont have the time to stand in a line at the offices for hours and as they say "draaie in the rook".

Lets hope all goes well with my registration, I've finally made the decision that I need a career change and being 27, I feel the time is now.

I think you must push and push and push. That's what my daughter ended up doing. She was here today and said she had given up on this year's course and was getting the legal dept of the co she works for to get the money back. As I said, her first degree course at UNISA went swimmingly and she got to know some of the adjudicators. She reckoned that UCT was best, but that was a 3-year stint and Dad isn't paying any more.
