    Not too bad?
I'm assuming that your attenuation is 15.5dB, which is excellent. You should be able to get the highest speed on ADSL2+ which is 24mbps. Can't be 155dB, your line would be unusable for both voice and data.

When will MSAN's be rolled out to everyone in the country?

Your downstream SNR margin seems quite low considering your attenuation.

Here are my stats on my 10Mb line:
    ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10015 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.5 db 10.0 db
Noise Margin 16.7 db 6.8 db

My noise margin downstream was about 29db when I was still on 4Mb

Geezus!!!!, those are some good stats, I am still on 39db downstream Attenuation, dammit!!

Just wish they can start with the damn upgrades to 1Mbps. Cant wait.

Will it only start in August or this month cause all the articles is making me confusing??

Your SNR is low yourself. I'm on 384 about 2-3km from the exchange, and I'm sitting with 26.6/18.0db down/up SNR, and my attenuation is pretty high: 43.5/25.0 down/up. I thought low SNR = can't sync?

True, but your SNR drops as your speed increases, my SNR is high 32 but I am on 384 so I cannot compare it to someone who has a 4meg line.

This is also why they try drop your speed when you have connectivity issues.

I know where my DSLAM is, and it was replaced with a MSAN a while ago but left "unplugged" - there are about 4 Telkom techs around it at the moment (been there for hours) so I can only assume my switch is soon. It couldn't come any quicker, as I have Attenuation of around 63bb and SNR around 14db - however, my line is immaculate and has never given issues.

The higher the sync speed the lower your SNR margin will get, as I said I had a noise margin around 29db on 4mb before the upgraded us to 10Mb.

Anything higher than 12db will keep a solid sync and a good router will be able to sometimes sync as low as 6db.

Just upgraded my line, I've got a 10mbps line, but I can only afford a 4mbps account
Anyway, just thought I might share this with you guys, for some reason, I got 10mbps on this account, will probably be corrected soon.

I am also on a MSAN. Like the OP I am also renting a 1 meg line, but as you can see on the last line

SNR Margin (0.1 dB): Downstream 152 Upstream 70
    Attenuation (0.1 dB): Downstream 90 Upstream 28
Attainable Rate (Kbps): Downstream 24468 Upstream 924
Rate (Kbps): Downstream 10015 Upstream 927
