  1. #1

Default Mozilla's Thimble makes web site creation simple

Mozilla’s web site creator is ‘ridiculously simple’

Thimble opens the door for easy web site creation

So can you build a site from scratch or do you have to use templates?

    Try it out here: http://thimbletest.org/

It looks like an HTML editor to me.

While it is kind of fun that it shows you the changes you are making in almost real time when you use the editor it isn't all that awesome.

Somehow I was expecting something... I don't know... more.
The box said "requires Windows7 or better" so I installed Linux.

Quite the let down it seems. The internet desperately needs software to create quality websites without any coding knowledge.

Has anyone used Apple's iWeb or Mweb's SelfBuild? If so, some feedback would be appreciated.

Ja goodness, this is just a fancy HTML editor! Frontpage allowed for "easy creation of webpages" - even though the results were horrible.

This will only result in somebody figuring out how to change the background to black, the font colour to green and the font type to Comic Sans... Then regarding themselves as "web-coders" and starting to advertise their "services"....

Why? I would much rather charge people money to do it with my coding knowledge :/

Rather than charge a few people for a common service, wouldn't you rather charge many people for unique software?

How long before a free alternative of that software you charge for becomes available on SourceForge?

That argument could apply to any piece of software. And website creation software is well suited to value added services like one-click hosting, quality assessment, overall improvement, support etc. and it would probably update frequently as new features are introduced. I can't see piracy or imitations being an issue.
