Thread: Gamers ISP of choice is Mweb

  1. #1

Default Gamers ISP of choice is Mweb

Gamers help MWEB grow into preferred ISP

MWEB claims they are the ISP of choice for SA’s gamers

Just waiting on my line and I'll be one too. I predict my happiness will be inversely proportional to the length of time I must wait...

I'm a very happy customer. Been with them on 4mb uncapped for over a year now. Have had 1 day of down time, support is excellent and my gaming pings are by far the best I've seen over many different ISP's. Very happy.

MWeb's latencies are AWESOME. I get 175ms in WoW! The most it goes up to is 220ms. A far cry from 450ms minimum back in the Telkom days.

As a MWeb customer, I was almost thrown out of a game this past weekend. All the other 5 players were using Telkom as an ISP, and there were problems with my connection. Until I switched to my FNB ISP account, and suddenly there were no problems. Go figure. I wonder if it had something to do with the non-paying for interconnect between MWeb and Telkom.

mmmmmmmm...... I'm on Webafrica uncapped, play mostly Starcraft 2 and a couple of shooters.

Can anyone from experience advise as to which ISP is consistently better for gaming? MWeb or WA?

I'm an ex-WA gamer - now a proud user of MWEB. My ping is about 10-20 higher in MWEB, but it is more consistent and reliable.

So overall you'd recommend them over WA for a gamer?

    For sure!

I can play whenever I want!
When using WA I had to stop all downloading and my brother could barely browse while I'm playing otherwise I'd lag! Now he can still download and browse and I won't lag even a bit!
I can also play after midnight, but when I used WA and everyone started their downloads at midnight......could just as well go to bed.

Well if your line is running a download and the source allows you to download at max speed then it's pretty obvious that your game will lag.

I don't experience what your talking about, the after midnight thing... I guess we've just had different experiences with WA?

At the moment I get good pings with them but will change in an instant if I find an ISP that will give me better pings than them.
