Thread: Biting Finger Nails

  1. #1

    Default Biting Finger Nails

So what is everyone's solution and fixes to stop biting your nails.
I destroy mine on a daily basis and they are really starting to look bad.

I managed to stop for a few months, then all it took was one bite and they were all gone .

    Stoped

started again when I quit smoking

No Idea how to stop. For once I think hypnoses might work because it is something I do with out thinking about it.
No I'm not rude, just honest.

I don't bite my nails. Usually I chew on pens. It's hard habit to kick.
    I've made a huge mistake.

Used to, the simple solution is to keep a nail file that can clean as well, instead of biting them, clean them and file them (well this worked for me any way, swiss army knife always at hand).

I used to bite fingernails until this guy knocked me and I needed 7 stitches. He could've just asked me to stop biting his nails instead of resorting to violence.

I've also managed to stop and start again a few times. What is working for me is that stuff you paint on that tastes disgusting. After you have stopped you MUST MUST MUST MUST follow this simple rule: if you catch your fingers near your mouth you paint the stuff on again, IMMEDIATELY.

i stopped biting my fingernails by accident. i pierced my tongue. a couple of weeks later i scratched a mozzie bite and it felt odd. looked at my fingers and saw the nails had grown.

no need to chew the nails any more as instead i play with the bolt through my tongue.

Just keep vaseline or vicks in your pocket and keep applying.
If you taste crap you wont eat.

run your nails along dirty things like hand rails on escalators, toilet seats etc. That should keep your mouth away.

few years ago , i saw a little nail polish type bottle in the pharmacy for nail biting , its was a liquid solution that you put at the tip of your nails that leaves a bitter taste if you did bite , not sure if they still have this

I keep nail clippers everywhere. I have about 20 of them. They are all over the house and in my car and at work. I found that by clipping I don't bite anymore. Has worked for past 10 years or so.

Rather bite your toenails to keep your fingernails intact.
I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

I went to school with a guy that did just that. He could put his legs behind his head so he had no problem getting his toes into his mouth.
