Question MWEB - still no price cuts?

I have been happy with my 4Mb line from MWEB bundled with uncapped data for 899/month. Good speeds, solid AUP, but when are we going to see them start to match Afrihost on price?

A 10Mb uncapped line would cost me a few rands less than I am currently paying for 4Mb.

    Have I missed something?

Was gonna move to mweb at the end of this month, for a 4mb uncapped product, but Ill rather pay the same amount for 10mb from afrihost.

    Hi Guys

We are still busy with the process of reviewing our product range and pricing in line with the announced line speed changes and we will let you guys know as soon as we have an official update on this, but we can't commit to you exactly when this will be yet.

We do still have time with this as the Telkom changes only start in August and we'd prefer to take a bit longer to make sure we come up with the right solutions.

What do Telkom line speed changes have to do with the price of your data products? Surely you can reduce the price of your data products regardless of what changes Telkom have in the pipeline. In fact, their line speed changes have nothing to do with this.

Indeed, the competition changed their prices now , regardless of the speed changes by Telkom. I'll be "reviewing" things in July , not when Telkom decides to do whatever they want to do .

Telkom STILL have not launched 10 MB/s here in Centurion where i stay , so they're not very reliable with their announcements, so hearing Mweb basing all their future products on Telkom's schedule is not exactly inspiring me with confidence.

    Fair enough, I guess.

The whole one month notice does mean that people aren't going to hang around too much longer, mind.

Telkom just released there new adsl line rental pricing to go with there increased line speed, http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/5...om-august.html .

So does this mean we might actually hear something back from you guys?

Competition never hurt anybody - only lazy companies and fatcats

This industry changes so quickly you guys need to be on top of your game.
    Else customers will go elsewhere

Mweb also forgets about the one month notice. Folks will use July so that they can take advantage of the drop by August 1st, not wait an additional month.

TBH, I'm still very happy with my MWEB account...

Yes Afrihost is much cheaper, but they have those rolling windows which don't necessarily appeal to me, I prefer MWEB's shaping... its just a better approach in my opinion.

You're joking right? Think about it for a minute.

Not following the news? Let me quote something random :

    http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/4...s-from-is.html
On 25 April 2012, Internet Solutions (IS) announced changes to their wholesale and business DSL offerings, following the 30% reduction in Telkom’s IP Connect (IPC) charge on 1 April.
That actually happened, and is most likely why we are seeing these new pricing filtering through. Definitely nothing to do with any future speed related changes i'm sure, ISPs never drop prices based on "announcements" by Telkom of things in the future.

Trust me, ISPs will wait for Telkom to do their thing and only do something 2-3 months AFTER it happened.
