Does it makes sense to have a tumble-dryer?

Virtually any clothes can be tumble dried.

I'd not put my flamesuit or bulletproof vest or armour-plated anti-backstabbing coat in it though.

Many clothing items specifically state that they are not to be tumble-dried. Is this a real issue or are the manufacturers simply protecting themselves?

Many garments contain artificial fibres that are prone to shrinking when exposed to heat.

But then why did you say that virtually any clothing item can be tumble-dried?

Tumble driers are very useful in the winter, but can run up quite a bit of electricity costs.

Yes, especially in our rainy season and if you have schoolkids...
