Why is it odd? It's Sentech at their very best. If anything, they're consistent.
/me holds thumbs. Only 2 more weeks until I know if I can get ADSL.
For the first time I get frequent lock ups. I am now for the 3rd time today trying to download a HP printer driver and software file size 345MB. I normally do this via sat but thought it would be faster via ADSL. Seems to be not the case!
There is a problem logging in to many websites that require logins. I have had several clients complaining about this for the past few days. The websites work fine on ADSL or dial up or 3G and iBurst. It's only from a Sentech connection that you can surf some websites fine until you try to login.
Why is this happening?? This is very strange. What are they doing? The websites affected are generally not https - I cannot think of any reason why this should be a problem. They appear to be selectively intercepting username and password login information and preventing them from reaching the websites as debugging reveals that the login information submitted never reaches the webservers!!!!
How odd.
I had the same experience. Browsing forums works fine, but as soon as you try to log in, it get's a gateway timeout, but immediatly. Something def funny.
I've been battling to connect to www.systemshock.co.za for about 2 weeks. I get HTTP500 errors all the time, but if I connect to it using a proxy it's perfect.
I think Sentech's transparent proxy has a problem.
Downloads pathetic! About an hour ago (I am on 128 kbps) I was getting a download speed of 1.87kbps
Butworse for me (and I know it is not a new thing) is the apparent labelling of Sentech IPS's as spam addresses by a lot of company emails. I have a friend who works for IT Web and on and off for the past two weeks or so either she doesn't get my mail or I don't get hers, but if she responds to my gmail address then I get her mails. Very frusrtating and makes me wonder just how many emails I don't get cos I have sentech

Sentech + DNS = DO NOT MATCH, they are having problems with the dns, as far as i can see...ah, yeah, also, the transparent proxy...if clients are not able to login to sites, it means sentech is caching secure pages as well, that, my friends, is ILEGAL!

clients not being able to log into sites?
Would this explain why I cannot get into certain siteas on certain days?
And are we going into a slow unexplained bandwidth problem period as we did in October? Until the last few weeks thigns have been going reasonably well. but lately ....sooooooo sllloooowwwww! its worse than my original 56k modem I used to use

I have to agree with Padded_Mouse. Single-threaded downloads and just general browsing speeds have gone down the toilet.
If I load up many websites simultaneously, I only get like 4-5k/sec.

Internet throughput problems: 5 June 2006
Sentech is currently experiencing a network problem resulting in decreased internet throughput (speed problems). A project is in progress to improve the throughput across the network, the project is being implemented in a phased approach, so customers will experience a gradual improvement over the next week to improve the immediate issues.
Additional improvements will also be made over the next couple of weeks and months to ensure the service provisioning is improved.

All rather vague....
Is there an extension for allowing multithreaded downloads ?Originally Posted by thewanted_
Last night trying to download a podcast was a steady 4.4KByte/s. It timed out mysteriosly.
I retried this morning after 6am and i was 'flying'(relative speak) at 16-18KByte/s
i am on 256
It's odd - if I use a download manager I have little problems and the spee is normal. Downloading a single podcast using the Windows downloader - times out almost always unless it's a tiny file.
Accessing Gmail has been timing out for the last week - and most troubling is popping normal mail from my isp - times out on less than 100k packets.
ok so download managers seem to be the thing, are there any good ones anyone can recommend?

Unfortunately there's no download manager for my XBOX360 and demos download at an AWESOME 1-4k/sec![]()
