Thread: Best app to transfer photos/videos iphone to ipad?

  1. #1

Default Best app to transfer photos/videos iphone to ipad?

We always use my wife's iphone to take pictures/ videos of our son.
Each time we take pics/vids I have to connect her iphone to itunes and copy pictures/vids that way.

Is there nothing easier where we can use both devices free of itunes, tried bump but it doesn't copy videos.

    Anyone used photosync before $1.99?
    Or can recommend another program?

there is icloud but that would use data and each photo ranging from 1.5mb to 5mb it'll chow bandwidth.

I've used PhotoSync, but in "device to device" mode gave me endless issues at the time. Haven't tried it since though, I'm sure there would have been a couple of updates.

Device to PC works well, but obviously doesn't solve your issue.

Why I do is to take most photos with Camera+ and keep the photos in the app's Lightbox i.e. don't copy to Camera Roll. From there I delete - and if there are a few real keepers that I would like on my iPad as well I'll save then to the Camera Roll. iCloud Photostream is on - so those few selected ones get synced to PC/ipad - saves a lot of bandwidth that way.

If you have a large amount of photos that you want to keep, but not necessarily want on your ipad and don't want synced via iCloud Photostream (bandwidth) then disable wifi, save all from Camera+ to Camera Roll, sync via PC (itunes or Photosync) and wipe from phone.

    Sounds complicated, but isn't.

I tried using Photoshare but it doesnt do videos and free version can only transfer 1 photo at a time.
iPhoto apparently can sync but it's pricey, photosync seems to be my best bet.

Best bet is still auto sync with iCloud Photostream. Painless background synching - it works brilliantly. If you are worried about bandwidth just plan around it to minimise Camera Roll items.

    Camera connection kit.

The kit includes two connectors, each with a different interface:
The Camera Connector features a USB interface. Just plug it into the dock connector port on your iPad, then attach your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included). iPhone 3G is not supported.
I don't think there is going to be a quicker method.

Dont want to involve a laptop, would be ideal to just tap some buttons and have all new photos and videos taken since last sync copied over to the ipad.

Yes - you connect the iphone via the 30pin usb connector.

I was under the impression you can't transfer to an SD card with the CCK? I bought one a few weeks ago, but haven't really played with it yet. I did try to copy photos to the SD card, but couldn't.

Are you sure it is not a jailbroken functionality?

Re read my first post. You plug the camera connection kit (the one with the USB) into the ipad and then plug your iPhone into it with your standard USB to 30 pin cable.

I'm not sure why you would want to use a SD card?

iOS 6 brings a way to share photos between iOS devices much easier. Can't wait.
