Why are they only announcing a replacement on Wednesday when Boucher fate has already been decided like yesterday.

Seems like they unsure about Thami. They want to replace a handy batsman/good wiki with an average bat/wiki, essentially weakening the side.
Hardly the move you want to make when taking on the might of England on home ground.

Not surprised AB has been called up.

Probably the right move to settle matters behind the stumps for the first game.

He was 3 tests short of 150, and 1 wicket short of 1000

Well now we can have rudolph at 6 and Duminy at 7.... that is a strong batting line up.

I think ab will bat at 6. 5 will mean him carrying a too heavy workload

Assuming they do go with AB as keeper though. I heard that Thami will be flying out tonight - I'm just not comfortable with having a noob play in the biggest series of the year, I'd rather have AB keep in all 3 tests and sit out the ODIs if need be.

Anyway it's just 8 more sleeps, can't wait!

Boucher hasnt been at his best yet we persisted with him for this important test.
AB is the best choice, very happy how it turned out...

The problem is AB has back problems as well as muscle "problems", what happens if AB's back gets stuffed in test 1 day 3?

He is still being groomed. I would give Duminy the nod and if he fails in this series then plug in Faf. Faf could also be included if Alviro can not make it back in time and Rudolph moves to opener.

Wonder if Kirsten is entertaining the idea of going with 5 bowlers for the first test, or even 4 bowlers (all seam attack).....
