What do you need to close bank account?

I'd like to know what does a person need to take to close their account with a bank(Nedbank)?

Banks don't really tell you what do in these cases. Goggled and googled but no info whatsoever.

Here's a crazy idea.

How about you go to your nearest branch and actually ask people at the bank?

Basically just your ID.

No need to go into a bank to find out only to go back & close it again. Just give them a call and find out.

If its a credit card you might need to settle some interest but if its a cheque then just your ID should be fine & they will pay you out whats available.

Take ID and proof of residence. When I closed 3 Standard bank accounts, I also made sure that there was a small balance and got paid out in cash.

I don't have happy memories calling my bank. It's one of the reasons I am leaving. They take ages to respond.

With Nedbank you will need:

Identification doc - Drivers will do as well
Your bank cards - they cut it, in front of you

Oh, and Nedbank charged me a small fee for closing my account. Something like 65c.
