Circumcising young boys on religious grounds amounts to grievous bodily harm, a German court ruled on Tuesday in a landmark decision that the Jewish community said trampled on parents' religious rights.

The regional court in Cologne, western Germany, ruled that the “fundamental right of the child to bodily integrity outweighed the fundamental rights of the parents”, a judgment that is expected to set a legal precedent in the country.

Oh no...we had a such a good laugh now here in the office. I told the jewish lady that works here with me about this...she was not impressed. She then came with this "Oh but it is cleaner" BS. She did admit she has never had a uncut guy...so I said "Well, I can tell you as someone that has had both, sometimes at the same time, that your "oh it is is cleaner" story is absolute BS"

She nearly peed herself laughing hahahahaha.

But no...she aint impressed with this ruling. Said it is Jewish law and they cant infringe on it etc etc. I just said well...Germany is a secular state and the law of the state trumps any religious laws.

Wow, I cannot believe how sensative guys get about this issue. Next you all are going to support anit-vasectomy campaigns - and they actually do chop a piece off and toss it away so its pretty much the same.

But then again I had my cheese factory dicommisioned as a baby and my nutts decommisioned two years back and neither of these two events bugs me or has ever bugged me.

What I have always wondered is, where the Jewish religion got the notion that they should circumcise men? I do not recall that the bible mentions or orders it anywhere?

I agree. There's no reason why Jews should get a special right to hack bits off their children.

A good start would be stripping a doctor's license if they do circumcisions on children that are not medically necessary.
