Seems like I'll have to take it to the chin and cough up.. Okay. Now here's my next question. Parts like the cowl were damaged and those will be replaced fine. But a scuff mark on a headlight requires a new one?
Thinking of just buying the parts myself and he'll collect and take them to a mechanic to be put in..
Pho3nix: when insurance covers accident damage on a vehicle or bike then they are obligated to restore the damaged item to it's origional condition PRIOR to the accident. Case in point: vehicle goes off the road and into the bush. Not only do body panels have to be repaired, but if any side glasses have been scratched from the branches then these must be replaced too!
Sorry, answers are not going to make you feel better as that headlight will need to be replaced if owner of the bike insists.
Thanks guys. A very expensive lesson to learn but it has been learnt![]()
You remind me of the time I popped my friend's girl's cherry. Things were never the same again.
Sounds like they're taking the bike to Honda directly. They will not accept parts that you bring in to them - they supply the parts themselves. You seem to think that you have the say in this matter but you don't. The bike is going to Honda to be fixed after you stuffed it up. The associated costs are your responsibility as per your agreement. There is nothing to negotiate in between.
It is a pity that you have to cough up this cash but it is a reality...

I hear you DJ.. but again it was just a thought. The bike is from 2006 so all warranty Honda wise from what I was told has now lapsed. As to the mechanic. It isnt a backyard mechanic but rather a workshop which has assisted many a friend before and thats where that idea came from.
