What you can at least do is load (pay for) a small recurring bundle like 10 MB or 75 MB. Then at least you will be "subscribed" to a lower per MB (i.e. OOB) rate than R2 per MB.
EDIT: Last I checked in bundle costs were the same as out of bundle on MTN, but can't find it now on their site.
EDIT again: Aha, found it
Looks like IB=OOB only for bolt-on bundles?

Off topic, but:
Can one bolt on 2gb @ R189?
If so will the out of bundle be calculated at the special in budle rate?
If so, I think I should bolt on that bundle and then deplete my airtime with downloads.
Did a rough calculation and I will get about 10gb for R1000.
Need to find the best way to deplete this airtime because if I manage to terminate my upgrade I want to move as far away from MTN as possible.
Looks like you can. Here's the original press release.
When you phone 808 to add the bundle, get the person's name, time and confirm with them the price and OOB costs. Then you should be ok.
Which contract did you end up taking?
I am in the same boat ATM; I want the S3 but not sure which route to go.
i decided to hang-10 until my current vodascum contract ends, due to the fact that they wont let me cancel the BIS on my current contract
This is what I got quoted on my Nashua Mobile upgrade
Control Chat 100 @ R100 subscription x 24 months with the Samsung Galaxy S3 & a once of payin of R5097.00
The 2 GB for R189 promotion will end soon. Afaik at the end of July.
And you can not have more than 3GB on your phone at a time.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Since 21-1-13
Samsung Galaxy S3 since 23-6-12
BB 9900 since 30-12-11
Incredible Connection has the S3 on promotion this week. R7699 on prepaid, or R299 pm. on Vodacom's Everyday off peak 120.
No data bundle afaik.
The contract price is a good one - works out to R7200 over 24 months including the off-peak airtime. This is only R4 more than FNB and includes the airtime. Decent from Incredible![]()
I am seriously considering this option
1. Get the S3 from FNB for R295
2. Port to Cell C from MTN and take the straight up 100
Total cost will be R395 which will give me 100 min/sms/data x 24 and the bonus of 99c OOB call costs.
If i stay with MTN then it's R399 on the anytime 200 with 75mb X 12
With Cell C it's R454 on the straight up 100 for 24months
Sounds good. MTN Anytime 200 only gives 87 anytime minutes. So more minutes and data with Cell C. And you won't be locked into a 24 month contract with huge cancellation fees with a cellular network (apart from paying just the phone off with FNB). Just take a month-to-month on Cell C. If a different network comes along with a better deal just simply port over with no worries.
