Buy a "99c per minute" starter pack. The instructions to port should be on the packaging.
Dont put the sim card into the phone until your MTN signal has expired.
Take along ID and proof of residence.
Make sure you have good Cell C where you are going to be using your phone.
I just converted my number to pre paid with vodacom, went into cell c and they did it all for me. Didn't need proof of residence.
If you are a prepaid user, and you have some airtime remaining, will the airtime also be ported?

If you do it yourself, then no, if you go into a store they might charge you, but not too sure about that.
You're probably right.
Don't think so, I bought a 3GB smart data bundle at the same time and that was all they charged me for.
How long does it take to port your number from MTN to Cell C?
Is it a instant thing?
well i went there at 1pm and my number got ported over 7pm, it takes up to 24hours.
Your mtn sim card will suddenly stop working and then you put the cell c one in.
