Does this impact on the 250MB we get free from Vodacom per month?

You don't have to wait till your contract expires. If you have a smartphone and you are on MTN or Vodacom, you can do it right now.

Use your 250MB free on Vodacom, then swith to the FNBConnect APN afterwards. You can have a multiple of APNs on your phone but you can only use one at a time. In fact, you can set up your phone to ask you which APN to use.

Where is that mentioned? I didn't have to do anything of the kind. It's just like I posted in the first post; set up the APN and connect to it; no partitioning of the SIM needed. The FNBConnect 3G does use your SIM yes but only for the number; the data costs gets charged from your FNBConnect account.

I checked my account and saw that my free 2GB were still there; also trying to find a way where I can use it on my mobile.

As for FNB Connect's data rate, it's 40c/MB for the first 50MB, and then 59c/MB afterwards.

You cannot use the ADSL data on your mobile. Pity.

really wish they would rather can the adsl data and just give me some mobile data rather

Problem is they still have to pay the carriers for transporting the data from your phone to their backhaul- which is a lot more expensive on 3G than it is on adsl

will test it on the drive home,

but I'd pay R20/15 for 50mb (40c/mb or 30c/mb, depending on your rewards) than be worried about some OOB shark attack.

what happens after the 50mb, higher prices? to lazy to go check!

    60c/mb on MTN, IIRC.

59c/MB. Still cheaper than the mobile networks' OOB rates.
