    Default iMessage on New iPad

    Hi everyone,

    Anyone have an idea how to get iMessage to work on the New iPad? Have activated iMessage in the settings using my email address, but when I try to send a message to my iphone it says the number I am sending to does not have imessage....my apn is iphone.vodacom.za, have also tried it with apn internet....any help would be appreciated.

    My phone and ipad messages are in sync, wonder if your problem has anything to do with that mechanism. Have you tried sending/receiving to other devices from both your phone/ipad? Is the problem restricted between your two devices?

    Are you sending the message to your phone number? If you are, have you activated your number in the iphone imessage settings. I believe internally it uses an sms to verify your phone number.

    I understood from the Apple literature the the 3G on the iPad is only for data use, nothing else, so no phone calls or SMSs. So my understanding of this, is that iMessage will not send to a number as the iPad is not registered with a cellular message centre, so you can only send messages to email addresses of friends registered on the Apple system.

    only messages to other apple products..... just bloody stupid i think.
