Default Small Office is looking at Yeastar's MyPBX - Installation / System Advice

    Hi

We are a small office having 2 incoming lines and 4 extensions and we have a very old PABX analog system.

We are moving to new offices in a few months and I think it is time to upgrade to an IP PBX system.

I am looking at the Yeastar MYPBX from Scoop for R2750 ex VAT with no modules with some of the Atcom phone units

I pretty computer savvy, network setup/router setup etc. Do you think it is something you can setup yourself for must you get in the professionals?

Like to hear what you guys think of the system.

    Regards

    Michael

    Hi Michael

You are asking about the MYPBX,well i can say it works 100% , we have a couple of clients that use the system, the only thing don't go for the Atcom AT-610P, it work for 2 months then the sound get horrible, and the AT-620P look out for the cable from the unit to handset that becomes faulty, small this we have picked up..

    rather go for snom 300

to setup the unit is quite easy, but if you need some help sawireless.co.za and contact us..

I agree, the atcom phones are dreadful. Get yourself Snom 300 phones you won't regret it, alternatively the Linksys phones are also good quality.

As for the MyPBX it works perfectly.

You say you are not getting it with modules for the MyPBX, so how are you going to interface with Telkom ? or are you going to go pure VOIP and port your number to one of the VOIP providers? I advise going pure VOIP, with either a dedicated ADSL line, or diginet circuit, for the VOIP connection to the VOIP provider.

1.I would rather go with the Yealink phones from EvenFlow as the MyPBx fully supports these phones via auto provisioning just create the extension and add the MAC address under auto provisioning go to the phone and type the address of the MyPBX in the provisioning section and the system configures the phone for you.

2.It is very easy to setup the system, if you get stuck you can always chat with Jason or Michael Chan from Yeastar via Skype they are always willing to help.

I swear by linksys 942's and cisco 504g's.

I've launched several of them across the office in fits of rage, then handed them straight to the shocked user without any problems.

504g's can also be receptionist phones if you purchase the spa500 attendant console

    Hi Guys

Just an update! I am looking at getting the Yealink T26P for reception and Yealink T22P for normal desk use, anyone used Yealink phones before? See you can get it online from NIVO from about R740 for the T229 and R1169 for the T26P.

I want to check with you guys, can we have 2 companies in the same office setup wanting to use and share the same MyPBX system.

Can you have it so that: Telkom Line 1 (company A) rings on extension 201 & Telkom Line 2 (company B) rings on extension 205 as an example?

Also I want to know what happens if Line 1 from Company A is busy can I get hunting lines (hope that is what it is called) from Telkom to allow me to call out or do I need a separate additional line, if I need separate line what do you think to use Skype as the additional line as a backup as we only make about 60 calls a month on our line. (we are really small!)

Also I am not sure what modules to buy? FXS or FXO and do I have to buy one for each Telkom line that I plug in?

I really appreciate everyone's help think I must to a step by step guide for other beginners on how to use it if I get it working!

    Thanks, Michael in Durbanville

The price on the phones seem fair.

Yes you can dedicate lines per company / extension for in and outbound calls.

The inbound and outbound routing becomes difficult if you only have two lines for what you want to achieve, your best bet would be to look at a sip only account from Nashua ECN which works perfectly with the MyPBX. R500.00 once off set-up, no monthly fees, low call rates, and as many 021 did's (numbers) as you require all you need is an adsl line which i presume you already have, and the G729 licenses (10 USD per simultaneous call you want to make) I would suggest at least 2

if you go SIP there will be no need to buy the FXO modules for the telkom lines ( saving you R350.00 per module) FXS if for connecting analogue extensions to the PBX

There is nothing wrong with the MyPBX and the Yealink phones are good. i agree with previous posts to forget about Telkom and go SIP account. As your system is so small i would suggest that you forget about the MyPBX and go hosted. I am not in the habit of recommending DSL as a last mile option for VoIP but in the case of only 2 lines, DSL will be fine if you got the right router with QoS set up.
I honestly don't believe there is a place for a PBX any more in a 2 by 4 configuration. So look at the hosted option, simple to set up, no maintenance issues, cheap calls, per/second billing, enterprise features available to the micro SME.

Hosted is an option and it starts from around R250 per month with a minimum of 5 extensions Euphoria offers this with lots of features.
In selecting a handset I found this US site offers a list of 9 questions to consider. While it seems you have had some in field use advice above it might confirm your selection.
Good luck and let us know how it worked out
