Yes, especially if you have already got the client, there is no real need to have the disks. Though with the last build making the GW2 installation around 15.7GB, I am VERY curious to see what it is going to be at release, including all the new content and updates

It will be the same client, it will just update with all the necessary files.
Yes, as isengard said, it will be the same. We have had some client revamps over the past few months, and after the initial download the client reloads and changes to the new one.

Cooln then pre-purchase and download ahead of release seems the sensible option!
