Did anyone just see that shooting star?

Did not see a shooting star but did any of you see what was in the eastern pre-dawn sky this morning? Looked on the S.A. astronomy site but couldn't find anything about it. I am going to take a stab at it and say it was Venus. It was what looked like 3 stars in a row pointing down with the middle one being bright, bright, bright, looked close enough to touch it. It was stunning!

I saw it last night when I got home - it happened too fast to grab a pic - started disintegrating half a sec after I saw it - moved really fast.. like in a second it was across the sky. Didn't think to mention it to anyone till u reminded me. Nice sight.
