    Default 20" - 24" monitor for PC

    Any advice?
Do Esquire offer a decent one for decent price?

I see HI Fi Corp has a 32 JVC tv HD for 2999.

    Thanks

please don't buy the jvc, my friend bought one, it does do full hd, but it is blurry, almost like forcing 1080p on 720p panel.

Sounds like overscan, probably because cheapie TVs don't have the ability to disable it, or offer 'PC Mode' like the branded sets. Your friend should try fiddling. Using a VGA cable might disable overscan.

Just started using a Dell U2412M. The image quality is far ahead of my Samsung TN panel. Don't know yet how good it is for gaming, some people say that this is the drawback of IPS monitors - great for movies though.

Don't confuse this monitor with the Dell P2412H, which is a TN panel.

The IPS235V has quite a nice picture, but don't expect top notch build quality e.g. backlight uniformity a bit patchy at the edges. If you can find one cheap its not a bad buy.

No problems gaming with Dell U2410 IPS. Wonder how E-IPS of the monitors mentioned here compares. Faster response I'd imagine.

Is there any major difference between LG IPS235 and LG IPS236 price wise 235 about R200 cheaper?

Mainly cosmetics. IPS235 is slightly newer with reported lower response. Shouldn't make a difference, IPS236 is excellent for gaming, first hand experience. Some may fuss about build quality, I wasn't too perturbed with the IPS236. End of the day you have a 3 year warranty. Both fantastic screens compared to run of the mill TN LCD.

If budget allows up to +-R2,900 I'd get the Dell. 1920x1200 FTW...
