You mean charge less for late returns.

Like the once u purchase airtime and cigarets from.
Just stuck in your Flash-drive select movie , stuck in your Bank note or coins and its copies the movie to your flashdrive
and u have 24hours to view the movie.
Yip and if u have no flashdrive u can purchase one from the same vending machine LOL.
This is my idea and this thread is proof of patent Lmj
so how will the drive delete itself after 24hours?
and how do you check if movie has been loaded before leaving the store?

That kind of thing will never work, even if the USB drive is specially made to delete the movies after some time, some people will still find a way to copy the movie to their pc or make the time unlimited.

The one thing I liked about the video store is that it forced you to watch movies.

maybe they can make special drives, for this service, that will delete itself if you try to copy it.
so that rules out bringing your own.

Lol, now that I download my movies it just sits on my external hard drive waiting for me to watch it, I have like a 100 movie that I downloaded and didn't watch.

Just finished downloading American Reunion, will probably watch it tonight.

Yes, but there are some clever people out there, it will just be a matter of time before someone finds out how to hack the drive and copy the movies.

not everyone is familiar with movie downloading or video on demand, so ultimately the real villain is the vendor on the street corner pushing the latest releases for R10.
To be honest those street vendors selling on the corner sell absolutely terrible quality which is 90% of the time unwatchable IMO,so after having bought there once I wont do so ever again.

If the video stores simply get a full selection of blue rays then i really don't mind hiring at all because for the quality its worth it.But dvd's for that price just don't cut it anymore.Quality should be the main draw card.

    indeed
just like there are people out there that know how to rip a blu ray but these guys make up less than 1% of the movie watching population.
ultimately no matter what you try the video shop owner will be no more in time to come.

Whether its from a crap cam rip torrent or from the street vendor people love the prestige of being able to watch a movie before its official release.
Now when you consider the cost of a new release at the cinema for the average SA family, vs waiting up to 6 months for it to appear at the local video store, the thought of just picking it up on the corner for virtually nothing makes pirate copies a very attractive prospect.

Agree with you, I already have the New Loen Schuster movie "Mad Budies" on DVD, bought it here in Bellville at one of the traffic Lights for R40.

I must say that the quality is actually better than some of the first cam releases of american movies you get on torrent sites, it was very watchable and enjoyed the movie.

I would still like to know how they managed to record the movie in the theaters, cause I went to see it for a second time yesterday with a friend and the manager came in like 5 times during the film and inspected every row of seats for cameras, they are very heavy these days about piracy.

    You've been ripped off

sometimes a projectionist will have a private screening before official release and copy it.

From reading the article, are they seriously implying that by downloading a free movie or game I am supporting organized crime syndicates? Yes if you buy them off the street, that money usually helps fund local crime syndicates but not downloading from free sources, even advertising revenues from such websites can't contribute to much IMO.
