Default HELP! Wi-Fi from PC connects to any laptop but NOT TO ANY cellphones or iPad!!

    Hi,

I have internet connected on my pc. The wifi works perfectly with any laptop that I've used but it has never worked with any cellphone that I've tried. For all cellphones, it allows me to enter the password, which is the number found under the router. It always connects but when I try to use the internet on the phone, it doesn't even load and later says,'web page not available'. It hasn't really bothered me until now. I've recently purchased the new iPad and it too does the same thing. I was really hoping to use wifi on my iPad!

Please can somebody help me solve this issue!

    Thanks!

OK First, what router do you have.

Second, what are the security settings of you wifi network?

    Thanks for replying!

    I have a Billlion 810VGTX router.
I'm sorry I'm not good with computers, so what do you mean by security settings of the wi-fi network???

1 - Have you entered this number in the wifi section of the iPad's settings? If so, switch wifi off and back on again

    -or-

2 - Use a browser to look at the router (ie http://10.0.0.2 or whatever your one's address is) Do a CMD, type ipconfig /all and look for the Gateway address

Go to LAN or settings and look at Wireless Security. If there is a passcode in there, alter it to something you know/will remember, and save it

Ok I looked around and found this:

    Security type: WPA-Personal
    Encryption type: TKIP

Is this what you wanted to know?

This is standard. The iPad supports it

    1. I have entered this in the wifi section and switched it off/on.
    2. What does this mean? How do I do this?

Under Settings there is a section for wifi

You can also switch wifi off and on

When you switch it back on, it scans for an available connection and connects (provided the passcode is correct)

Try changing the dns on your ipad to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.6.6

Also make sure that the default gateway on the ipad (router) is the same as your router's ip address.
then make sure that the ip address is in the same range as the routers address, the first three numbers should be the same and only the last number should be different.

It is strange that it should be so difficult. I have set up about 15 iPads with a wireless network and battled with 2 of them. What I had to do in the end was remove any security, connect, then replace the security and reconnect, putting in he passcode. I also took care to only use numbers, no letters. These particular routers didn't seem to like letters.

I've tried everything, and still no luck with this. It could possibly be some settings that are blocking me from using the wifi with other devices

Assign static IPs to your mobile devices (iPad etc) instead of DHCP. I had the same issue earlier and tested changing from DHCP to Static and I was able to connect without problems. I kinda know what my problem was though as I changed routers earlier and all my Android-based devices just would not connect. Thing is with Android/Google if you enable an option called "Backup and Restore" settings then your device does just that and tries to restore your previous Wifi settings which have now changed.

Hey, I tried resetting the router last week and now it connects my ipad as well as all phones to the wifi! Thanks for the suggestion though , I will keep that in mind if the problem arises again.
