Thread: Blackberry Battery?? At a reasonable price??

  1. #1

Question Blackberry Battery?? At a reasonable price??

    Hey guys

Been having some phone issues recently where my phone kept switching off. It's a cheappie...Blackberry 8520.

Anyway, so I've tested it with another (the wife's) battery, and the problem went away....EUREKA!!! I need to replace the battery....lol...

Anyway, I've been looking around and looks like these things go for around R550...WTF!!! For a battery!? For a phone that costs just over R1000? I will also be upgrading in 3 months so paying R550 for a battery at this point, to me, is not justified at all (and daylight robbery if you ask me!!!!)

Anyone know where I can get a battery for this phone that wont cost almost half the price of the phone?

Apparently the 8520 and 9300 use the same batteries.

On ebay you can get an original battery for ~R70 with international USPS shipping. go to global.ebay.com...

I have personally purchased one this way and it was delivered in about 2 weeks. If you cant wait, Its going to be around R300

Have you had a look to see if the contacts on your battery are dirty or corroded?

OP, where are u? I stumbled upon a place in Access Park, CPT, today. Found a battery for my old samsung omnia for R60 :-) New, but generic. These types of shops seem to be owned by foreign nationals and tend to be very reasonable in terms of price

The Vodacom shops carry generics at around R200 that work perfectly well.

Strangely, all the shops at the mall here (Centurion: Vodacom, Cell C, MTN, Nashua) sold out.

My mother had a phone one of the Samsung flip phones, and it's battery swell so much that the clip that holds it in place on the back broke :P Then she realised she should probably replace it.

I also had a Nokia who's battery swell and the back cover did not fit anymore. It keeps on working b.t.w. even with the battery swollen, so I bought a replacement for R100 at Kloppers in BFN.

I guess with so many charges every day, I mean on a 2 year contract it would be: 365 x 2 charges if you battery last a day, the batteries don't last forever.

I agree. There's nothing that justifies a callphone battery to cost that much!!!!

Anyway, I found one (generic) for R150 at Chatz in woodmead. Now, the strange thing is I've never had my original BB battery last more than a day, even out of the box....now I get 3 with the generic...
