Default Anyone know of a Tablet without LED or LED backlighting...

    Hi All...

I was wondering if any of you know of a tablet which does not have a LED or LED backlit screen?
I know it's a weird question but my brother has an eye condition which is made worse by LED so I am looking for something LCD.

    Thanks
    D

I doubt very much you going to get anything modern that still uses CCFL backlighting, it doesn't make sense to use this as it's a lot more power hungry than LED. You can however find old tablets with these specs, but they are pretty outdated now even compared to cheap entry level tablets of today.

It's not the LED back light that's the real issue. It's that LCD isn't meant for reading. He needs something with an IPS screen.

What about a Kindle? Its not backlite and uses epaper. My eyes are very very light sensitve and the Kindle is a joy to read. You can also surf the net, not much of a user experience but its possible

You're not going to find any portable device that isn't LED or LED backlit
The only option would be epaper like the kindle.

Why would LED be a problem vs CCFL though?

Any of the e-ink Kindles, but NOT the Kindle Fire which is a different beast entirely -- like an iPad, it has a backlit screen, where the Kindle readers have easy-on-the-eye non-backlit e-ink displays which are almost identical to reading a printed book page

Wouldn't just turning down the brightness help then?
