    Red face BlackBerry Internet Service

Firstly, I must apologise as this has probably been asked a million times before and is probbaly such a "blonde" question.

But what exactly does the "BlackBerry Internet Service" include?

All I can tell is it allows access to the internet, BBM, etc.

But then I assume that over and above the BIS fee, you actually pay for the data that you use to access these special features as well as visiting any other sites via the phone's browser?

What ever you browse ON THE DEVICE excluding streaming meaning youtube etc.
So you can visit any website like MYBB, download whatever you want like mp3's but never use youtube as that's not covered by BIS also BIS is not uncapped internet for downloading !

There used to be a sticky about this.

BIS generally covers all browsing and app usage that is done on the device, through the BB browser and official apps.
Streaming media (aka Youtube and Internet Radio) are NOT covered. However, most apps are.

Depends on your network though. I used to be with Vodacom and they would randomly looi me for 4Square connections sometimes but not all the time. I have since moved to 8ta and now I get 500MB streaming data per month for free.

So.. browsing the internet on the BB is included. BBM is included. Google Maps, Blackberry Maps, WhatsApp, Twitter, GoogleTalk, WeatherApps, Shazam, Evernote, Dropbox, Facebook, Foursquare, Games, BB Protect... these all work through my BIS. Note though that Dropbox only shows you file lists and allows you to generate links for items which you can then open in the browser or send via email - it doesn't actually download the items themselves.

There are a lot of threads about this. The answer will vary depending on your SP. If you have a question about a specific app working over BIS, feel free to post it and we will test it.

I do all the abovementioned things without incurring any additional data charges. It all goes through BIS.

email blackberrysupport at mtn.co.za - asking them to activate your bis services. they will send you a form that you need to complete and send back to them. once they receive the form it takes anywhere between 2 to 24 hours to activate the services.
