Thread: Would God do this if there is no purpose?

  1. #1

Default Would God do this if there is no purpose?

Didnt really know how to title the topic.

Would God have me cross paths with someone and then not have that "impact" have a purpose?

For example (which is perfect but unrelated to my prayer/thoughts/questions)

You met your ex, everything was good, it all turned to crap, and then you met someone else. Without your ex you wouldn't have grown in the experience of a dysfunctional relationship. You as a person would have maybe met the 2nd girl, unprepared and have made the mistakes you would have made (if it was your fault, lol) with your ex. Essentially ruining something that could have been perfect.

Am I getting my point across successfully??

Would God send someone that impacts your life without purpose or meaning? And how do you determine where He is leading you with this experience?

I'm in two trains of thoughts on this one, both heading towards the "He wouldnt do it without a purpose" station.

I'd just love to hear others' opinions on this

First prove god exists. Then we can talk.

Understanding the world is a human drive. We find meaning in experience. Especially highly emotional, experience. Don't go reading purpose into everything.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

Zeus is having a off day....

Not even gonna comment on OP's question but I can add something similar that use to bug me back when I was a christian, if god never test you above your limits(give you more than you can handle) why is there so many suicides, its kind of obvious they had more than they could handle as they signed off so to speak.
.... and thanks for all the fish.

Why mock his belief? Whether theres a God or not his thread is still fun to entertain. Basically do you think things happen for a reason or are they random. And hes only asking what you believe not why he is wrong. I believe things are semi random i dont know why exactly thats just the feeling i get.

Because people can't see the silver lining. They keep staring at the closed door and expect something different to happen instead of opening their eyes to the other, already open ones.

They feel that there is nothing more for them. The "pain" will never stop.

I highly doubt they have any sort of belief-system (and if they claimed they did, was just too impatient)

I've thought of suicide everyday of my life since I can remember. I'm still around. The difference between myself and those people who go through it is just plain patience. Patience to see through this painful experience and wait it out till you get to experience something different, possibly better.

My question wasn't to prove there is a God or not. So thanks for ruining that you atheist *******s.

Obviously the resounding opinion is that there is no one that was meant to cross paths with you, either to help you out of or you help them

There is no hope for the human race.

I think theres definitely meaning and reasons for people that cross our paths. If I think of my parents- theres no real reason they should ever have shacked up from a compatibly point of view yet they did. It didnt last long but I was the product of the relationship. Id like to think that for reasons unknown the sole purpose of that union was to produce me

Christ but you can be a whiny little bitch some times, Acid. Probably best you steer clear of PD if you can't handle a few opposing opinions...

Go try tell that to a women that kill herself after she has been raped, see how good she takes it. Or my sister that killed herself after she started showing symptoms of Huntingtons.

My response was not to go all "there is no god" just that if there is one, I doubt everything is done for a purpose as pointed out in the example above, was it the rapist purpose in life to find a women rape/half beat her to death?

Life is about choice, if or whether you believe in God or not.
Situations present themselves in life, how you choose to deal with the situation is up to you.
There is no helping hand other than what you believe.
Some people have the strength of their belief, that helps them get through a situation.
Some people are not able to see past the problem.
Some people choose to learn from an experience and grow.
Some people are doomed to repeat the same situation over again.
Some people choose to just give up.

Life is a tapestry of choices made or not made, choices to make or not to make, thats all.
Abandon the search for Truth; settle for a good fantasy.

Pure coincidence, something we learn young as free thinking atheists. Humans tend to only register the special times, while forgetting all the times it didn't work and there was nothing special or purposeful.

Chicks messing with your chemical balance again?

Life is like a video game. Some people impact your journey whilst others were just adventurers like you until they took an arrow to the knee.

I'm back for a short while, and already see people missing the boat
    What a strange question, Elimentals.

Ever heard of people in the end, make their own decisions ? It's what you choose to do with the situation/decision.
