Default There is no such thing as a "human soul"

Supposedly, who you are, what your morals are, your memories and everything about you is supposed to be contained in your "soul".

So what happens if you were in a car accident and lost 50% of your normal brain function....memories...skills... everything you know and who you are are removed by 50%.
Or what happens when grandma gets old and forgets who you are?

My point is - if your "soul" is dependent on your brain function..... is it really there in the first place?

Reminded me of a quote I saw: "we're not a body with a soul, we're a soul with a body"

If you acknowledge that we have a soul, then there can be no such thing as evolution.

A soul cannot evolve, it is given by God.

Its a dumbed down word for self-awareness. which is why we see it in our family pets sometimes when they dream etc.

At what stage of pregnancy is the soul injected? Self awareness evolves.

Your initial statement is flawed. Your soul does not store memories etc.

Even assuming it did, perhaps the lack of brain function means the interface to the memories is gone, rather than the memory itself? Just because your hard drive controller fails, doesn't mean your HD doesn't exist or has lost all its data?

As far as I can tell, without your brain matter, there is nothing.

I have no clue what a 'soul' is meant to be...

If the body can age why can't it evolve? Is the soul the body?
That which comes into existence will eventually break apart and pass away

If your soul does not have any memory, and needs the brain... then what is the purpose of a soul? By itself you can't even know your name?

    Therefore, it does not exist.

    Soul != consciousness.

HD without a controller is useless too. Does not mean it does not exist.

How do you come to this conclusion?
