Thread: Independant connectivity consultant ?

  1. #1

    Default Independant connectivity consultant ?

Does anybody know of or can recommend an independant ISP consultant to advise us on various connectivity options for our company ? We are based in JHB.

It may sound strange but we are looking to get an informed decision on our planned connectivity solution without having a particular company backing the various sales reps.

Any help would greatly be appreciated !

If you provide details I'm sure you could get some good free advice from here.

    Lol, sorry, blonde moment !

In a nutshell, I am looking at the various MPLS offerings from various suppliers in SA. I need to link multiple branch offices to my JHB Office as well as upgrade and consolidate my JHB office connectivity. I currently have 7 a ADSL lines and 1 x 512Kb diginet for LCR. Three of the ADSL lines are bonded with a solution through Tech Concepts, one other line is an uncapped line. The remaining 2 I have each as their own gateways running a VPN solution and the last one I use for testing.

What is the next logical step ?

Do you have a specific need for MPLS? It seems to ba a favourite buzzword but many people don't actually need it.

I would definitely look around for a fibre connection. The setup costs are sometimes a little steep but it is normally worthwhile in the long run.

Agreed MPLS is the latest buzzword. I was looking at using it as I have many sites and like the central monitoring, routing aspect of the MPLS. Also the fact that I have a choice of connectivity mediums to a hosting centre which probably has better connectivity than my office.

Its not my forte, hence me reaching out for advice.

I am leaning towards ATC as, so far, they are the only ISP that are able to fulfill the following requirements:

    1. Able to split a 6Mb pipe into 4 dedicated to MPLS traffic and 2Mb for internet, mail and voice breakout.
    2. Also they able to provide the SIP trunk for voice

    Thanks !
