is it possible to get out of a vodacom data contract?
I have a 24 month contract which I want to get out of after 4 months.
Is it possible? what would the penalty be? what reasons would they allow for the cancellation?

It's possible yes, but you will have to cough up for the device and pay like 75% of the subs over the remaining period. I think those can be negotiated but you'd still pay a lot for something you don't use.

You can cancel if there's no 3G signal at your location.

A friend told me that he managed to get out of his data contract without paying any penalty fees.

He requested a technician from Vodacom to come test the signal at his place. Someone came & tested inside his house & outside his house and found very poor 3G signal with slow speeds. The technician sent the report to Vodacom Customer Care with his reference number, and they cancelled his data contract and waviered the pay in cancellation fees.

So ask the to test the signal & get the contract cancelled if you're not happy.

That can work, but sometimes they drag it out. Multiple technicians, multiple times.

I got it done without a Techie visit. It is possible.
