Default Carpenter for basic pine furniture?

    Looking for more advice...

I want a piece of furniture made up to my specific specifications (a bit of tautology never hurt anyone...), preferably made of pine or even superwood... basically, I want cheap! Can anyone recommend somebody who would do this for me? Thanks!

I went to get some pine routed at a woodworking place. Ended up costing R120 for probably 5 mins work. Don't want to know how much they would have charged for a full piece of furniture! Definitely would have been cheaper to get the item from Lotters Pine.

I wanted to get two bookcases. Cheapest pine pieces were around R500 ea. I went to Timber City with the measurements for the wood, and they cut it up for free. A 610 x 2400 x 2 laminated pine board was R233. WAY cheaper than Builder's Warehouse (who also charge to cut) or other builders merchants.

So with the cut pieces I just had to assemble it and stain it.

What are you looking to make?

It's a chest of drawers, but a specific height and width, with an open shelf on the bottom and at the top. I can't find what I want at any of the pine shops (Lotters, Mistrys).

If you go to a Builders Warehouse or Timber City, there will often be carpenters around there, holding up signs advertising their services. They could probably do what you want. No idea of the skill level, just something I have noticed.

Why not build it yourself? It takes a long time but its very rewarding.

Hell no... I'm hopeless with DIY stuff. Can hardly hang a picture myself!
