Emirates
Lufthansa - much faster directly to Europe...
Depends on your final destination.
Emirates have brand spanking new panes with loads of onboard entertainment and internet.
Lufthansa is ok. Some planes have showers on-board which is way cool. The light grey colour scheme can be a bit tiring....
Emirates. Better equipped planes. Hotter stewardesses.

Emirates.
Lufthansa does not do it for me - after a horrific flight from Frankfurt wth a +20 year old 747 I called it a day with them.
Even if they have now replaced the old planes, I still won't go back.
I'm ashamed of South Africa. It's an absolute disgrace that you can pass matric with a mark of 30 percent." - Jonathan Jansen
Lufthansa, unless you enjoy stopovers.
Both emirates and lufthansa use A380 or 777 on SA route to Hub. Personally prefer the food on Lufthansa.Like the LED nightlighting on Emirates. Problem with Emirates is the long stopover if miss your immediate connection
Depends on where you're going and if there is a long stop over, I managed to dodge a 13 hour wait in Paris CDG by changing flights onto an alliance partner if that's an available option but you would have to use the call center I think (I needed to extend a stay that's how I found out about this trick)
I would do Lufties anytime, believe me waiting till 04h00am for your earliest flight back from Dubai to Jo'burg is not fun at all, you are always in a holding patern for at least 45min flying into Dubai because all movements happens during the night and early morning due to summer heat in the UAE!!

Advantages of Lufthansa:
- Shorter travel time.
- Slightly cheaper.
- New experience: I've not flown Lufthansa before or been at Frankfurt Airport.
Advantages of Emirates:
- More luxurious planes.
- Dubai Airport has shower facilities in their gym so you can arrive feeling clean and fresh.
This is a work trip. The other options were Air France, KLM, Swiss Air, and Turkish Air, but I've already eliminated those for a variety of reasons (cost, restrictive ticket conditions, inconvenient travel times). I need to decide today.
What point is a more luxurious plane if you're in the air for that much longer?
