Default Certain websites don't keep me logged in - using ADSL line / router

    Hi everyone

I have the following problem and really hope SOMEONE can assist me with this one.

When using either my Mac or PC and Chrome, IE or Firefox (I've tried them all) on my Telkom 4Mbps ADSL line with Netgear 300 router - I log into a site (have this problem with more than 1 site) with my username and password (I even tried ticking the option "remember me"), it logs me in, I can then see I'm logged in (shows my username on the screen), but then i click on one of the links and it seems to have logged me out and taken me back to the login screen (the other site who also doesn't keep me logged in doesn't take me to the login page but shows the login button as if i wasn't logged in)

Now, if I do the same thing, but use my phone as a hotspot for my Mac or PC to connect to (instead of using the ADSL line), and the phone is also not connecting to the local wifi but 3G (Vodacom), then I log in, click on the same link and it takes me to where I want to go instead of "kicking me out" and back to the login page.

My logic says it's either something to do with the router or the ADSL. If tried connecting directly to the router (using an ethernet cable) but had the same outcome.

Anyone encountered this before? Or anyone able to suggest some troubleshooting tips? I'd REALLY appreciate it!!!! Thanks!

I've had this a few times where the website was configured to match session id's which included IP address, so you login ok, and then when you hit F5 or a link to another page, and the browser requests and sends data, the website concludes you are from a different address and kills your session.

I had this problem especially with Trac sites, but also one or two forums. Solution was for admin to switch off the compare-IP-address config.

You could maybe try and login using a proxy, and see if that helps.

I think ozoned is spot on! I was wrong in my previous post (which I've now deleted).

You can try using dsl-cache.saix.net:8080 as an HTTP proxy in your browser when connecting via your ADSL modem.

Could you perhaps give us an address to a site that has this issue, which is open to any user to register for free?
