I require 6 Playbooks for a small project I am running. Plan to give one each to my project manager's one for client interfaces on site. It is a defence client and their methodology/data protocol is via BES.

Otherwise I would have gone the Android route. Have the Asus EEE Transformer which is just great!

edit: As per our usual practice - these unit will be donated to a worthy cause on project end so I do not want to shell out too much on them.

Youre brave, betting something like that on a company thats about to go belly up!

BES is on its last legs, you would be better off using the transformer and managing your own security.

Or, like I said, the Kindle fire is the same size and can run pretty much any droid app. Even ones you write yourselves.

And that way the worthy cause will actually be able to use them afterward too.

Everyone's saying that on the basis of lowered handset sales. There's no practical replacement for BES with respect to security yet, and most US departments depend on BES for that security. Think the company will truly go belly up with that there?

Eh? There are plenty of apps out there - I have around 85 installed myself - and most are very reasonably priced or free. And they've been getting plenty of new developers.

It is evident to me that you are not in business.
Did you not read that our Client dictates the security protocol?

At the risk of derailing this thread further - I propose that you rather start a new thread labouring the demerits of the Playbook.

    Thanks guys for your help.

Rim have officialy removed the ability to run droid apps using their player. It sucked anyway and hardly any droid app publishers where "repackaging" their apps to run on the PB.
I have a bunch on Android apps, and they run just fine. There's been no removal of the Android player either.
