What do I do with my dog?

Hi All,

So I'm moving to another location next month (mid August) which is not pet friendly. I have a boerboel / boxer mixed breed dog thats 8 years old,really big and has a nasty attitude

I don't have relatives where I can take him to nor friends that will accept him, since the dog
is quite dangerous. Currently he has loads of free space (+50 sqm) with an enclosed garden
behind a high fence (just have to elaborate before somebody thinks the dog is tied down)

Although I really love and care for the dog, I dont have a choice since I must move, is my best option to take him to the SPCA and let them put him down, or what other alternatives are there?

Any advice much appreciated guys.

Advertise him up for adoption. Classifieds etc Maybe someone is brave ennough.

hmmm tough one dude, this is one of the reasons I am currently tied down from moving, as I cant really afford a proper house and a flat/apartment I wont be able to take my 2 labs.

the place you are moving to, why did you choose it if it wont accommodate all you need or were there reasons you were forced etc?

You have no choice.

I was in a similar position. I had the opportunity to move to an apartment where my house mate would be a professional model who likes to walk around naked and party every night. This was enough reason to dump my wife + kids and move out.

Dude...SPCA and put him down? WTF? Are you for real? You love and care for the dog but you think of that as an option? Damn...I feel sorry for that poor dog, in 50sqm of space too...

Do the right thing, put an ad in Gumtree and give him away. Pretty sure he will be taken up easily.

all but one of the dogs we have had in the last 8 years were give aways from other people.

but I have a 3.5 year old daughter, no chance.

You will sukkel to get a home for a dog that old, you may want to try contact the boerbull and boxer breeders, they normally have rescue plans.

seriously though, next time, get a gold fish.
