Thread: Point of sale/ Cash register software

    Default Point of sale/ Cash register software

    Hey guys,

    I am looking for basic POS software that would work well in a shop with mostly cash sales. I don't really need something fancy, but I do like to play around. I have relatively new computers that I'll be using the software on. Currently the shop is making use of a premium software suite, which I dislike very much. I'm hoping there is a decent free or open-source option for me, but good premium software is also okay with me (just want to get away from what we're using now).

    Please recommend any good POS software (free or paid) that you have used and I'll check it out.

    Thanks.

    Try this one. It will run in a DOS window on a windows PC. It’s free and works with usb barcode scanners.

    Iv’e also used something else more glitzy (windows based and free) but only have that info at home. Will try to find it tonight and post it.
    My ISP’s
    TelkomSA (Do3) - Axxess (international prepaid) - Axxess (Local prepaid) MWeb (Uncapped) - Afrihost (Free 1GB)
    All good no complaints.

    The first link is the one I mentioned yesterday. You will need to register on the site and forum to download and register the app.

    The rest I only use for a few days each. Some of the can be used on Android tables as well.

    There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    Thanks for all the replies so far, have looked at all the links.

    Great potential in many of them, but I'm not hooked yet. Still playing around with some of them. I guess what I'd really like to see is keyboard shortcuts for most of the basic operations. It's a bit time-consuming to click around, especially at peak hours.

    ERPLY POS is really good, but I don't want something that uses someone else's online server.

    @Japster Thanks for the PM.
