Default Bad creaking noise when opening/closing passenger door

    Hello everyone,

Wonder if myb can help with this one. My mazda etude was in a left-side smash a few years ago. Now the passenger door is making a bad creaking noise when opening/closing. It happens at each lock on the door travel. I suspect it's that black joining arm between the 2 hinges. I've sprayed q20 but the noise is still there. Anybody had any experience like this or know what this joining arm is called or what could be causing this noise?

    Thanks

Could be that the door is out of alignment with the hinges, and you therefore hear the metal on metal screeching.

Had same problem with my TATA (very ashamed of it ), I then saw that the one screw weren't tightened good enough in the door and was making the noise whenever I open or close the door.

Just look around for some loose screws or bolts.

Will look around. Can anyone recommend someone in Durban that I can take it to?

Q20 is also the wrong thing for that, you get a white lithium grease stick at most parts shops.

Have you sprayed the hinge itself?

Not the black arm~ that shouldn't cause the creak.

The hinges can also loosen up and then the door will drop.

If Q20 on the hinges doesn't work, just stop at a panel beater - any panel beater, and ask them to have a look ~ those guys work with this sort of thing every day.

    Good for troubleshooting though.

Yup sprayed the hinges with Q20. Will check if they're loose and spray them again tonight. The door lines up straight though.

OK, then pop into a panel beater - someone will have to physically look at the door first.

Mineral oil is not good for plastic though and he mentioned a black joining arm.

Got it sorted guys. Took it to a panelbeater. Seems there was just a bolt missing. Guy just fitted it on while I waited and it's good as new.

    Thanks Benroe Panelbeaters!
