Its about a R700 saving between the Intel and the AMD.

The Core i5 is fast but doesn't have Hypertheading, just spend a little bit more money and get a i7.

We have i5 at work and it is fast as hell, also has 20GB of RAM and 250GB SSD.

    Rather get this CPU:

and with the money you save get:

If you cant buy from that shop get a DDR5 6670. Not the DDR3 one. Makes a big difference.

Dude. It's for the guys parents. I'm sure an i3 would even be ok.

Yeah I agree but like I mentioned, I want to try "future-proof" (I know that is impossible in the tech world) so that I wont need to upgrade in the next year or 2 and my parents won't be stuck with an ageing system. Im very much in two minds with AMD and Intel only because Intel has been my choice for years but my brother is devoted to AMD so its a little family feud going on. Would they see much difference between an i5 SB and i5 IB processor cause Im sure I can save some extra cash going the SB route maybe?

I don't like Intel because of ethics and because they're basically a monopoly. By supporting Intel you're only harming yourself long term.

Then when it comes to parents they won't see a difference at all between the two so see no reason not to do the "right thing".

I see what you did there see no reason not to do the "right thing".

That is actually good advice, you may have convinced me to do the "right thing".
