    Exclamation Blackberry 9900 Issues

So far my findings in a cut down version:

I am running a 64k sim card with BIS on a BES server

Performance with the 9900 over multiple OS versions from Vodacom certified v7.0.0.585 till International Release v7.1.0.523

    Device Performance:
OS freezing ( Improved in OS v7.1.0.523 )
Bootup / startup speed ( Improved in OS v7.1.0.523 But still an issue)

Battery drain: ( Improved in OS v7.1.0.523 with Application Resource Monitor But still an issue)
Running two email accounts 1x BES 1x BIS
    Whatsapp ( 3rd Party )
    FourSquare ( RIM )
    Twitter ( RIM )
    Advance OS & LED ( 3rd Party )

    Radio / GSM:
    Dropped calls
Dropped calls while data is being sent & received while either on 2G or 3G Coverage.
Voicemail msgs of missed calls while device is on ( Improved in OS v7.1.0.523 But still an issue)

    Desktop Manager:
Backing up the device & at 98% it states backing up SmartCard features and almost freezes for 30mins +

The 9900's are generally crap phones. I sent one back to MTN for repairs twice already, and another phone just went it 2 days ago for the 3rd time. The rest of the 9900''s in our company only give us problems now and then.

I think you might have one of the "bad" ones. You seem to be having a lot more issues and problems than the average 9900 user.

No Issues with mine. Just hit 24 hours and battery is still at 35%. OS is v7.1.0.523. Last time I had issues with my phone I removed Advance OS & LED and reinstalled the OS after that no issues.

you could try to turn of Compression (Option --> Device --> Storage --> untick Compression) It has seemed to speed up my 9900.

I have also had a good experience with my phone (7.1.0.267) bundle 921. One of the previous versions was very laggy but this one seems fine.

Can get 2 days battery life out of my phone if i'm clever.

I think apart from the Storm, the 9900 is the worst BB ever made.

See above, those are not isolated issues with the 9900, everyone experiences the those issues. It was supposedly sorted with OS 7.1, we now have about 5 or 6 different versions of OS 7.1 but the issues still persist.

The 9790 with the same OS seems to be more stable than the 9900, strange.

Plus the battery life of the 9790 is way better

What is the 9790's battery capacity? How long does it last? Has anyone tried my tip about the compression?

9790 is non-touch screen isn't it? That's a huge battery drain right there.

Yes it is. The main reason I got it. All the BB goodness with a touch screen. Plus I had an HD2 before and only got about 20 hours on it. Bit scared about the BB 10 though. Full touch screen? They are getting rid of the main thing I like about BB.

No way... what else are you comparing it with ?

Its probably the best ever made. You wont find a better looking and performing BB on the market now or for the last few years
