This in JUST as I have been tasked with finding something more suitable for a business struggling with utterly swamped outbound data on a 4meg adsl line ..you gotta love MyBB!

How would this compare to Telkom's 1Mb Diginet service in terms of reliability? Need it to be completely rock-solid...

Interesting... don't know where those diginet prices in the table come from. Diginet has been cheaper that that for a while.

The Otel pricing also seems to be fairly middle-of-the-road compared with other options.

I thought the headline said "affordable prices". I don't see affordable prices anywhere. I just see ridiculous prices.

    It's for businesses. Not consumers.

So? The prices are still ridiculous.

Its a heck of a lot cheaper than diginet - Not too sure about SLA's though...
Imagine not being near to a city, and needing a decent internet connection, with the promises of SLA's. This can definately save businesses money.

    What is Diginet?

    Telkom's Leased Line offering.
(Point to Point lines) - Usually symmetrical with SLA's.
Its very expensive, but also very stable...

How long did it take them to install it since you ordered it? We ordered ours several weeks ago, but apparently they're still waiting for equipment.

This article seems misleading as it compares apples to oranges if you ask me.

O-Tel uses diginet as a access medium to a local pop where the traffic is then carried on their mpls network.

I don't see why this cannot be done with IS, MWEB, Telkom etc also at reduced costs. The cost of diginet is related to speed and the distance of the circuit so if two different companies use the same speed circuits between A & B I don't see how the one is significantly gonna reduce prices over the other. You can't compare a 10km diginet circuit to a 300km one.

The article is vague on details so the above is a poke in the dark by me.

I assume you are not a business user. These services are very high quality and have no or very little contention, so perform at full line speed all the time. There is no shaping and the service doesn't change at different times of day. This and they typically come with SLAs - try getting that on ADSL or similar...

Some old technology they had before "ANC"

Now I heard some whisper about a special non-contended synchronous ADSL offering between subscribers on the same exchange ?
Perhaps this is also some mythical ANC beast ?
