The invention of boerewors would be to cover poor quality meat and fillers with so much corriander (and often MSG) as to cause a taste under-run.
Good wors can be eaten before it touches the braai and is best when eaten medium - medium rare. Spiced with salt and pepper only. Once you know a real sausage, supermarket boerewors (even 90% animal content, braaiwors rubbish is 50-odd %) is like Enterprise viennas versus the real deal (German butchers)
