how to get rid of Babylon on your Firefox tabs

Open about:config again and in the filter at the top, type: babylon

For every setting you find with that name in it, right click it and choose Reset.

For the following settings which might also have the word "babylon" in them, right click and choose "Modify". Then delete "babylon" and replace it with the word Google if a reset doesn't do that automatically.


browser.contentHandlers.types.0.title
browser.safebrowsing.provider.0.name
browser.search.defaultenginename
browser.search.order.1
browser.search.selectedEngine

Then close Firefox via File | Exit and restart it again.

Check the keyword.URL though to add the link to Google again if necessary.

Although Babylon started out well, it gained quite a poor reputation for sneakware, worming its way into places it wasn't wanted and sometimes notoriously difficult to get rid of. I'm actually a paid subscriber (as a professional translator) but because of its poor reputation I can't say I would recommend it to anyone until they clean up their act.
